The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is designed to produce educators who are responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating early childhood education and care programs.

Entry requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of the program.

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a:
* CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
Or
* CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Students must be able to participate in assessable industry placements.

A current Working With Children Check card is required for placement and proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required for placement by individual centres or businesses.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

What you will learn

As part of the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care program at Holmesglen, students develop the skills and knowledge needed to design and deliver educational programs tailored to children's abilities and interests. The program covers the National Quality Framework, including the Early Years Learning Framework, and the compliance requirements of the National Quality Standards.

Students will receive hands-on training and gain practical experience through real-world work placements while learning in state-of-the-art early childhood facilities with dedicated teachers and industry professionals who share their expertise.

Upon graduation, students are well-equipped to take on leadership roles in early childhood education, such as supervising staff and volunteers, and have the potential to progress to positions like Early Childhood Service Director or Coordinator.

Credit for prior study or work

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
