Diploma
The Diploma of Mental Health will provide you with a broad understanding of mental health and the practical skills you need to help people affected by mental illness or psychiatric disability through the recovery journey.
The intake for July 2023 is not available.
Students must be 18 years of age at course commencement. In order to take part in the mandatory work placement, you will need to obtain a satisfactory volunteer Working with Children Check, a National Police Check, and an NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.
These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

You will learn how to provide support to people with mental health issues by providing referrals, advocacy, education and connecting them to the range of services available, to empower people to improve their lives.
Students will need to undertake 160 hours of placement in order to qualify. Placements are organised by Holmesglen.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
