Masters (Coursework)
The Master of Professional Accounting equips you with the skills and expertise required to excel in the professional field of accounting. Graduates of the course will have a thorough foundation in the traditional disciplines underpinning the accounting profession. No longer accepting new students into this course.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of this higher education program, you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment. This will assist with determining your suitability to the course, and identify any learning support needs.
Applicants with Higher Education Study
- Your entire academic record will be considered.
- Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. You must demonstrate your preparedness, aptitude and ability to cope with formal post-graduate study at this qualification level. Students who have previously undertaken a degree with a specialisation in Accounting will not be eligible for the Master of Professional Accounting, or the nested Graduate Diploma in Accounting.
- You will be required to attend an interview and bring a current resume detailing work history as well as certified copies of relevant qualifications. Selection will be based on previous study, work experience and motivation to study.
Applicants with Work and Life Experience

Advanced standing
An applicant may be eligible for credit to a maximum of 50 per cent of course requirements for previous graduate level studies.
Credit or exemption will not be granted for undergraduate qualifications.

Throughout the course, you will become proficient in integrating advanced theoretical and technical accounting and related knowledge. This includes auditing and assurance, finance, economics, quantitative methods, information systems, taxation law, and business and corporations law.
In addition, you will develop an understanding of research methods and a selection of advanced taxation law and practice, advanced business and corporations law, corporate governance and management.
After completion of this course, you will have the capacity to work and pursue a career in a range of roles, organisations and sectors, both public and private, to provide solutions across a wide array of disciplines encompassed by the accounting profession.
