The Operate a Bridge and Gantry Crane Licence course teaches you to work as a bridge and gantry crane operator on industrial and/or construction sites. You will learn to operate a crane safely, including set-up, mobile loads, shut-down and secure.
Applicants will be existing workers, such as doggers or riggers in the manufacturing, construction or infrastructure industries:
minimum 18 years of age
prior logged experience in crane operations is an advantage
a good command of the English language, both written and oral, is recommended
personal protective equipment: long pants, long-sleeved shirt and safety boots to be worn during training
a USI number must be obtained before the start of the class
a pre-training telephone review and language and literacy test may be required
Holmesglen delivers this unit on a suitable 4-motion crane at its state-of-the-art Victorian Tunnelling Centre (VTC) located at the Drummond Street campus, or on the bridge or gantry crane at your work site.
In this ideal learning environment, you will receive customised, quality training that fully complies with WorkSafe regulations, and do plenty of practical exercises required to perform the work of a bridge and gantry crane operator.
You will learn to have control from a control station on the crane, or remotely control, more than 3 powered operations including load estimation and slinging techniques to move a load.
