Holmesglen Vocational College offers a 2 year VCE VM program for 16-18 year olds, focused on developing their employability skills in a supported vocational setting, using hands-on learning to ensure new skills and knowledge is learnt in a way that enables you to be able to apply these learnings to real life situations.

Entry requirements

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.

This will assist with determining your suitability for this course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs you may have.

Learners must be 16 years of age at the 30th of April to be eligible for enrolment

Learners under the age of 17, must have a completed Exemption form School Application authorised by the learners previous school principal. This is a requirement under the Ministerial Order 705

What you will learn

For one day per week learners will access the specialist facilities of Holmesglen for industry specific streams.
Each stream offers approximately 90 hours of competency training at Certificate II or Certificate III level, and the learner will complete two different industry streams throughout each year.

The remaining 3 days per week are allocated for learners to complete the VCE VM core program, which contains the following units, spread throughout the 2 year program. First year consists of units 1 and 2 . Second year consist of unit 3 and 4

Learners are encouraged to have a part time/casual job or complete a Structured Workplace Learning one day per week to enhance their work skills, maximising their experience and skill set.

Credit for prior study or work

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen.
