The Certificate III in Food Processing will introduce you to the practical aspects of micro-brewing with underpinning knowledge to produce a great brew! You will develop core food processing skills such as food safety, food quality, sustainability and OHS together with specific Micro Brewing skills such as wort production, fermentation, beer maturation, filtration, packaging and product testing.

This course is suitable for existing brewery workers, those looking to enter into the microbrewery industry and those wanting to set up their own microbrewery. The course also suits brewery owners seeking to employ entry level staff, possibly as trainees. This level is suitable for new entrants as well as those with industry experience.
The delivery of this course is blended - a mix of online learning, on-campus practical work, and work placement. There is a requirement to undertake 20-30 days of work placement during this course. Online delivery is two evenings per week - Mondays and Thursdays 5.30-7.30pm.

If you are enrolling in this course as part of a Traineeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

- There are no prerequisites for this course. However, it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. There is a requirement to undertake 20-30 days of work placement during this course.
- Applications from mature-aged students with work experience and seeking to cross-skill in a related field are encouraged.
- Applications from exit VCE/School Leavers and new entrants to the Food Processing industry are encouraged. Minimum age: 18 years old.
- Industry clients, existing workers in the Food Processing industry who are seeking to up-skill are also encouraged to apply.

Food processing (micro-brewing) is a highly in-demand industry. With a Certificate III in Food Processing FBP30117, you may seek employment opportunities in breweries, Independent Brewers association and/or other related industries.
Career outcome on successful completion of the course can include:
- Homebrewer or craft brewer
- Brewer with Victorian breweries (entry level staff)
- Assistant Brewers
- Sales Representatives for example brewing equipment, raw material supplies and packaging
- Brewery Technician
- other related positions within the brewing industry
