About this course

Learn the Tools of the Trade

This engineering course enables you to become a qualified Higher Engineering Tradesperson. The qualification covers the skills and knowledge required for employment as a Higher Engineering Tradesperson or a Special Class Engineering Tradesperson (Mechanical) - Level II, Special Class Engineering Tradesperson (Fabrication) - Level II, Special Class Engineering Tradesperson - Level II within the metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries or at equivalent levels in other industries where Engineering Tradespersons work. The qualification has been specifically developed to be delivered to people who are existing engineering tradespersons or delivered to apprentices in an Engineering Trade who choose to study at a higher level during their apprenticeship. The qualification packaging has been developed on an assumption that competency will be developed through an integrated combination of on and off-the-job learning strategies such as those delivered through a formal apprenticeship.

This course is a continuation of a trade course (certificate III) at a higher level. The course will cover higher level post-trade skills such as computer controlled machining or advanced welding, fluid power and AutoCAD.

The course delivery encompasses a combination of remote and flexible delivery methods. This includes easy to navigate online tutorials, video conferencing (classroom simulation) as well as face-to-face practical assessments and work placements - where safe and practical to implement.

Our flexible model allows you to study in a safe, guided and fully supported manner with continued access to all learning, personal and wellbeing supports. Selection process is undertaken through negotiation.
