Traineeship and Workplace Delivery - Rolling enrolments, start any time (must already be working in a Veterinary Clinic)

This qualification reflects the role of a veterinary nurse who works under the supervision of a registered veterinarian to provide nursing care to animals, to support veterinarians to carry out medical and surgical procedures, and to support clients to maintain health of animals. Candidates should expect that access to a veterinary clinic whilst undertaking study for this qualification will be essential for meeting assessment requirements. Access may be through either paid employment or substantial periods of work placement or work experience blocks.

At Kangan Institute we provide students with the opportunity to experience a simulated work place where your will gain industry relevant skills. Our teachers have a broad range of industry skills that they bring to the classroom environment ensuring that students have relevant and current understanding of industry practices.

You will gain skills in animal care management, reception duties, communication, basic animal care, infection control, animal welfare, nutrition, Occupational Health and Safety, pathology practices, medical nursing skills, radiology practices, anaesthetic monitoring skills, dental nursing.

If you are enrolling in this course as part of a Traineeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

Can I Apply?

It is expected that you will have achieved the Certificate II in Animal Studies (ACM20117) or Certificate II in Animal Care (ACM20121) or higher. If you have not completed a qualification you will need a suitable level of vocational training and/or work experience related to veterinary nursing. As part of the application and enrolment process you will be required to meet with one of our teaching staff to undertake an interview to determine your suitability, career outcomes and work history.

It is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course, which will be determine by undertaking a Literacy, language and numeracy online test.

As all of our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and remote (online) learning and we use a online Learning Platform we recommend for all students undertaking the course that they have a suitable and stable internet connection, have access to a portable device ie laptop to be able to access classes, class and learning materials and upload assessments.
