You can study the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50121) in one of two ways:

1. Combination of on campus and remote delivery methods.

2. Traineeship (You must currently be working in the early childhood sector)

Our course delivery features a combination of on-campus and remote (online) learning. This flexibility allows our students to continue to study in a safe, guided and supported manner.

Passionate about childcare and early childhood development? The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50121) is designed to prepare students for a successful career in the teaching and care of infants and young children. You will learn how to plan and implement quality early childhood education programs to help children best meet their developmental needs. This early childhood education course is one of three TAFE childcare courses available at Kangan Institute, and teaches a range of skills in early childhood education, including how to work with children from infants to eight years of age. You will study effective teamwork and leadership during this 18 month diploma, graduating with the skills required to become an early childhood teacher, nanny, kindergarten teacher, or an after-school program facilitator.

Graduates of the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113/CHC30121) are eligible to apply for this diploma.

Can I Apply?

If you would like to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), this can be discussed with the Early Childhood Education and Care representatives at an information session.

Applicants will be required to have obtained the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113/CHC30121) to commence study in the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

If you are enrolling in this course as a Traineeship, you must have employment in the relevant industry before commencing the course.

If you are enrolling in this course into the Industry Group, you must be currently employed or volunteering in the sector for a minimum of 15 hours a week.

How Will I Be Selected?

Applicants will be required to have obtained the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113/ CHC30121) to commence study in the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

High level literacy and numeracy skills following completion of an LLN assessment are also required in addition to attending a pre training review.
