About this course

The Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Biosciences honours year will comprise a research project related to animal science plus associated coursework. Students will be based in one of the participating departments. Students may also undertake their Honours year in one of the following disciplines: agriculture, biochemistry, botany, genetics, microbiology, animal science, and ecology, environment & evolution. To qualify for admission to the Honours program, students are selected based on their performance in the final year of the pass degree course. Students who achieve an average mark of 65 per cent or more in 60 credit points of relevant subjects and a minimum average of 60 per cent across all third-year subjects are eligible for entry to an Honours year. This may be undertaken in any of the departments, which teach core subjects in the degree, depending on the subjects taken in third year, or in the interdisciplinary program Animal Science Honours. Meeting this requirement, however, does not guarantee a place in the Honours year as resources may limit the total number of places available, and students are expected to find a supervisor prior to enrolment.
