About this course

Agribusiness combines agricultural science with business. You’ll learn to help farmers improve their food production sustainably, and get the skills to develop, finance, market and manage agricultural businesses. The commerce component is designed to develop responsible, engaged, innovative and work-ready graduates through providing students with opportunities to talk with business and work with business. The Bachelor of Commerce comprises an eight-subject common core and an eight-subject primary major, chosen from five key business disciplines of accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing. The commerce core, which extends through all three years of the degree, is designed to offer students a broad introduction to business disciplines, the opportunity to apply their disciplinary knowledge, research, analytical and problem-solving skills to resolving social, environmental and business problems and opportunities, and the opportunity to talk with business and community leaders and apply their knowledge and skills in a professional working environment. In the agricultural science component you’ll learn about the relationship between plants, animals, soil and climate along with economics and management. You'll also take on subjects such as plant science, land and soil management, animal physiology, pest control, and groundwater sustainability and contamination. By combining science with business skills, you'll be equipped to help farmers improve their food production and reduce the impact on declining resources.
