Students can qualify for a professional position in accounting, economics, finance, marketing or management, which they can apply in the management of scientific enterprise, while pursuing their passion for science at the same time.
The science component offers you the opportunity to sample and choose from 14 different scientific disciplines in which to major. The Bachelor of Science comprises a major of between seven and fourteen subjects, extended by between two and nine additional elective subjects in science.
The commerce component is designed to develop responsible, engaged, innovative and work-ready graduates through providing students with opportunities to talk with business and work with business. The Bachelor of Commerce comprises an eight-subject common core and an eight-subject primary major, chosen from five key business disciplines of accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing.
The common core, which extends through all four years of the degree, is designed to offer students a broad introduction to business disciplines, the opportunity to apply their disciplinary knowledge, research, analytical and problem-solving skills to resolving social, environmental and business problems and opportunities, and the opportunity to talk with business and community leaders and apply their knowledge and skills in a professional working environment. The three Essentials - Global Citizenship, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Thinking - are specialist areas designed to give you an edge with employers. They will enable you to adapt your knowledge and skills to new contexts in a rapidly changing world. Subjects addressing the Essentials are part of all undergraduate La Trobe degrees and can be identified in the subject database by distinct icons. The list of approved subjects is also on the Essentials webpageTo assist with planning your enrolment, download a PDF copy of the study plan guide here: Bachelor of Commerce-Bachelor of Science (LZCOMS) Melbourne 2019
