The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), is a four year full time (or part time equivalent) course offered at the Bendigo and Bundoora campuses. Students will complete a common first two years of the course before choosing to remain in the multi-disciplinary engineering stream or undertake the civil engineering stream. Students have the opportunity to undertake a six month work integrated learning experience during the final year of study. Students not undertaking the Work Integrated Learning subject (EMS4WIL) are required to complete at least 12 weeks certified practical experience under the guidance of an experienced engineer before being deemed to have completed the course and therefore qualify to graduate. This is preferably undertaken during the annual vacation following the third year of the course but may be done at the conclusion of the final year. International students must undertake their experience during the annual vacation following the third year. It may be done at the conclusion of final year but must be completed before the student's visa expiry date. Visa expiry dates may not be extended for the sole purpose of completing practical experience. International applicants are advised to ensure they have the correct visa to undertake this work placement. The three Essentials - Global Citizenship, Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Thinking are specialist areas designed to give you an edge with employers. Essentials will enable you to adapt your knowledge and skills to new contexts in a rapidly changing world. Subjects addressing the Essentials are part of all undergraduate La Trobe degrees and can be identified in the subject search by distinct icons. The list of approved subjects can be found on the Essentials webpage. This course is of four years full-time or equivalent part-time duration and requires the completion of 480 credit points.
