About this course

The Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Business is a five year combined degree at the Melbourne Campus providing an accredited professional qualification in law as well as a degree in business. The program offers an innovative, high quality legal education with a global and social justice perspective and a real emphasis on hands-on experiences. It includes all the compulsory law subjects required by the Council of Legal Education for admission to practice in Victoria and a wide range of law electives, including subjects complementary to business such as Banking and Finance Law, Income Taxation Law and Global Business Law. For further information about core subjects and electives, please refer to the entry for the Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) in the Melbourne section in this Handbook. Students can complete a Business major in Business Economics, Financial Management, Financial Planning, Human Resource Management, International Management, Macroeconomics, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing or Sports Management. For further information, see the entry for the Bachelor of Business in the Business and Economics section of this Handbook. This degree also shares a business foundation and first year framework with all other undergraduate degrees offered by the La Trobe Business School which enhances the flexibility available to students. The course is also available at the Bendigo Campus, but students commencing their studies at Bendigo normally transfer to Melbourne after two full-time years of study where they complete the remainder of their course. However, students who wish to remain in Bendigo are offered the ability to complete their later year core law subjects and a limited number of law electives through blended learning/video conferencing. Law electives are also available in intensive delivery at Melbourne in Summer and Winter School. Admission requirements are VCE units 3 and 4 of English, with a study score of at least 35 in English (EAL) or 30 in any other English.
