About this course

This course prepares students to teach Technology studies in Secondary Education and includes preparatory subjects for Vocational Education and Training (VET) teaching. Students will be able to integrate strands of studies that include design and technologies in the years 7–12 curriculum. At the VCE level, Technology curriculum becomes more specialised and includes: (i) Product Design and Technology; (ii) Food Studies; and (iii) Systems Engineering. Graduates will be able to teach in one or more of these areas. Students complete 80 days of professional experience over four blocks during the course. Upon course completion, each student's academic record is released to the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) for teacher registration purposes. All applicants completing an initial teacher education course are expected to sit and pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Teachers (LANTITE) prior to completing their course.
