About this course

This workshop provides a basic introduction to core concepts of family therapy theory and practice. It will assist participants to develop new ways of understanding difficulties impacting on families and a range of approaches to intervention. This workshop is a combination of didactic and experiential delivery which seeks to integrate theoretical concepts with practice. It is useful for workers who want to enhance their work with families, as well as those who would like a taste of what it might be like to participate in our award courses.

  • describe the systemic basis of family therapy and the benefits of this framework for understanding family difficulties;
  • articulate some of the key developments in family therapy models over time;

  • apply family sensitive practice principles within their own service setting.
