Education should be really accessible to everyone, and the quality of education should be standardised regardless of background. So I want to change it.
Access Monash provide students from low socio-economic backgrounds, and a lower ATAR to get into university, and provides mentoring to year 11 and 12 students. They pair up with a current university student who is able to just be that source of knowledge, of what life at university can be. That's something that not a lot of students have access to, esspecially if their the first in their family to go into university.
I volunteered as a mentor with Access Monash, being able to just go into schools and see what my mentees have been doing, and being able to help them with any issues that they have, whether it may be schooling related or personal related. It's given me a new perspective.
With Access Monash, providing that mentoring to those students, it can actually help them decide what they want to do after they finish school.
