About this course

The micro credential provides foundational training in the key concepts, terminology, and challenges of gender-sensitive placemaking. Designed for professionals involved in planning, design and policy-making for safer public spaces to develop a more complex understanding of gender-sensitive issues and the imperative to respond to these issues in the creation of, maintenance and re-design of public spaces.

This course is relevant to professionals wanting to better understand the ways in which gender-sensitive placemaking can address issues of equity and safety. It is suitable for professionals involved in local government planning and architects, urban planners, and other professionals needing professional development. It will be particularly suited to those professionals who need to meet the requirements of the Gender Equality Act 2020.

This self-paced micro-credential is 144 hours of Learning over 6 modules, with a maximum of 17 hours of effort required for each module, consisting of:

  • Video lectures
  • Video interviews with industry experts
  • Reading, watching and listening material
  • Structured activities to complete each week
  • Submit two assessments
  • An optional consultation with an expert from the Monash XYX Lab.

Eligible participants who complete this micro-credential can receive 6 credit points of credit towards Master of Design F6002 (Unspecified elective unit)
