About this course

Educators are increasingly looking to use research evidence to inform their practice. This program offers a distinct approach to professional learning for teachers and leaders who want to use research better.

Through a 20-hour online learning program, participants will develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in using research evidence as part of school-based practice and improvement.

The program consists of a series of facilitator-guided webinars, self-paced learning modules with illustrations of practice from Australian schools, and school-based projects, with coaching support. Over the 10-week program, participants will learn how to integrate research and other evidence to improve practice and student outcomes, and gain confidence in using research and in supporting others to use research.

The program aligns with Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and meets the criteria for elective professional development.

The program was developed out of the Monash Q Project, a five-year investigation in partnership with the Paul Ramsey Foundation to understand and improve the use of research in Australian schools. It draws on the project's Quality Use of Research Evidence Framework, up-to-date empirical insights, and practical examples from Australian schools, and was co-designed by education stakeholders across Australia.

As part of the continued co-design process, we are waiving all costs for participation during this initial pilot, seeking your engagement and ongoing evaluation of the program, to ensure it meets the needs of educators across Australia.
