Course Description

This qualification is designed for individuals who need skills to prepare for a vocational pathway qualification or further foundation skills development.

It is suitable for individuals who require:

  • a pathway to employment and further vocational training
  • reading, writing, oral communication, learning and numeracy skills primarily aligned to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 2
  • entry level digital technology and employability skills
  • education, training and employment goals.

Course structure

To achieve a Certificate I in Skills for Vocational Pathways must complete 11 units.

These units include:

  • one core unit, and
  • ten elective units. ( up to 3 from Group A; 5 from Group B; 2 from FSK or other accredited course; remainder from FSK)

The following are required core and elective units:

b) FSKLRG008-Use simple strategies for work-related learning
c) Group A-Numeracy
d) FSKNUM003-Use whole number skills and halves for work
e) FSKNUM004-Use basic and familiar metric measurements for work
f) FSKNUM005-Use familiar 2D shapes for work
g) Group B-Reading, Writing, Oral Communication, Learning and Digital Technology
h) FSKDIG001-Use digital technology for short and basic workplace tasks
i) FSKLRG005-Use strategies to plan simple workplace tasks
j) FSKOCM002-Engage in short and simple spoken exchanges at work
k) FSKRDG004-Read and respond to short and simple workplace information
l) FSKWTG002-Write short and simple workplace formatted texts
m) Other-A currently endorsed training package qualification or accredited course other than FSK ( from the Certificate III in School-based Education Support) or a choice of 2 units form the FSK units
n) CHCEDS042-Provide support for e-learning
o) CHCEDS044-Support development of student research skills
