This course comprehensively prepares students to administer remedial massage to clients experiencing soft tissue dysfunction, musculoskeletal imbalance and restrictions in range of motion.
Students will undertake practical training at our modern, spacious Brisbane clinic located on-campus at Brisbane Technology Park. The clinic is open to the public so students have the opportunity to conduct massage practice on their peers as well as members of the public, resulting in an authentic learning experience.
This course comprehensively prepares students to administer remedial massage to clients experiencing soft tissue dysfunction, musculoskeletal imbalance and restrictions in range of motion.
Students will learn to establish and maintain client relationships, assess client needs, provide massage treatments, provide specialised remedial massage treatments, and manage legal and ethical compliance.
Elective units provide the opportunity to learn additional skills including the instructing exercise to young and old people, develop strength and conditioning programs, and adapt remedial massage practice for athletes.
This course has a minimum of 20 scheduled face to face contact hours on campus per week PLUS Clinic Hours.
To graduate with a Diploma of Remedial Massage, students must have a record of having completed at least 200 practical hours on campus.
Note: Completing components in private clinics and/or shop fronts is not considered student clinical practicum hours, training or on campus by the Health Funds.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) must meet the minimum duration period of 12 months for the Diploma of Remedial Massage as indicated above.
