This entry-level qualification provides you with an introduction to a career as a disability support worker. It has been designed to equip you with industry-specific skills to enable a smooth transition into a Certificate III in Individual Support or a traineeship within the community services sector.

Learn how to empower people with disability through the implementation of a rights-based service and a person-centred approach. Throughout this course, you will learn about effective communication, how to organise, provide and monitor support services, follow safe work practices and work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups. You will also learn how to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Recuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This course includes units that can be credited towards the Certificate III in Individual Support.
