The Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade must be completed as part of an apprenticeship, and upon successful completion, allows participants to work as a qualified boilermaker or welder. Apprentices will learn through a combination of on-the-job learning and block training at North Regional TAFE.

Participants will learn how to perform some of the following tasks:
  • Engineering measurements and computations
  • Mechanical cutting
  • Manual heating and thermal cutting
  • Fabrication, forming, shaping and assembling of components
  • Manual metal arc welding
  • Gas metal arc and gas tungsten arc welding
  • Technical drawing interpretation
  • Use of handheld and power tools
