About this course

Ready to progress your career at sea?The Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master up to 24 metres Near Coastal) entitles certificate holders to:
  • Command a commercial vessel less than 24m in length in the EEZ
  • Act as a Chief Mate or deck watch keeper on vessels less than 35m long

This qualification is delivered in skill sets, enabling flexibility for students and the ability to articulate across qualifications.

To attain this qualification, participants will need to complete the following skill sets:
  • Elements of Shipboard Safety (ESS) Skill Set
  • Marine Radio Skill Set
  • Master 24 Seamanship Skill Set
  • Master 24 Ship Knowledge Skill Set
  • Master 24 Navigation Watchkeeping Skill Set
Participants will require the following text:
  • Australian Boating Manual
  • Coastal Navigation (Master 5) SLG, ABF532
  • Nautical Knowledge (Master 5) SLG, ABF531
  • Radar (Master 5) ABF534/SLG
  • Ship Knowledge (Master 5) SLG ABF533
  • Elements of Shipboard Safety
  • Marine Radio Operators Handbook
