About this course

The Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance - Sport and Fitness allows the student to develop the core skills to work alongside and independently under the guidance of allied health professionals.
 

The program is delivered in conjunction with Aligned Leisure (a subsidiary of Richmond Football Club) and has a focus on fitness, physiotherapy, wellbeing, and community health. There are two placements required for this program, one in a community health or hospital setting, the other in the fitness industry. This course requires the ability to travel to different locations and is only offered in full-time mode.
 

The student will learn in a safe, simulated environment before undertaking placement in the field, supported by our qualified and dedicated facilitators. Students will gain knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to deliver therapeutic programs, and to deliver quality care in hospital, community rehabilitation, and sports and fitness environments.
 

Our course inclusions are:
  • Level 1 Sports Trainer - Sports Medicine Australia
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid (completed within 3 years)
  • HLTAID001 Provide CPR (completed within 12 months)
  • Mental Health First Aid
The course includes a mix of delivery methods, including face-to-face class time, online work, project work and industry experience.

On completion of this qualification, graduates will be able to work with diverse people to develop and run programs to ensure the effective rehabilitation of clients, to communicate effectively and to build therapeutic relationships.

Course structure

To be awarded this qualification, students need to complete 16 units, including seven core and nine electives as well as successfully completing a three week full-time clinical AHA placement and opportunities to practice your fitness skills which will give you the chance to experience real world situations.
