About this course

The Certificate IV in Computer Systems Technology provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to install and administer simple networks, servers, and client desktop deployments either as an independent information and communications technology (ICT) specialist or as part of a team.

This one year course is aimed at developing the skills and knowledge of students that have little or no prior experience in this field. This could be school leavers or mature aged students looking for a career change.

The explosion of the internet, cloud networks, office networks, wireless networks, data security, application development and associated technologies in recent years has led to a high demand for skilled workers in this wide and varied field. The Certificate IV in Computer Systems Technology provides an excellent entry point for a student to learn about, and become both knowledgeable and skilled in some of the fundamental IT networking and programming technologies.

These foundation skills taught in computer systems technology include programming and mobile app development, routing and switching, server administration, both Linux (open source) and Microsoft (propriety), client support, data security, and testing and troubleshooting networking issues.

During the study, students are enrolled in the Cisco Networking Academy program, which prepares a student to take the Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching Certification Exam. Students are also eligible to articulate into the Advanced Diploma of Computer Systems Technology.
