About this course

The Certificate IV in Information Technology develops foundation skills required for entry to the ICT industry and develops the underpinning skills for entry to the Diploma of Software Development.
Competence in the skill areas of Problem Solving, Programming (Desktop and Responsive Web), Database Design, Communication, Software Analysis and Design and Project Management are essential for developing mobile, desktop and cloud-based applications. This challenging course will guide and train students in developing the fundamentals of those skills, providing an entry point to further development.
 
Students will obtain introductory to intermediate skills in C#, SQL, XML, HTML, JSON and JavaScript, utilising these within popular frameworks such as ASP.NET Core, Angular and Node.js. Also required is proper use of version control, project collaboration and software design tools.
 
Students will develop knowledge and skills primarily by participating in a mixture of individual and group based training activities, with an expectation that they will be highly engaged and productive. Some online learning will also be required.

Graduates of this course will have the required skills for entry to the Diploma of Software Development or the Diploma of Information Technology. They will also be able to apply a wide range of knowledge and skills in basic programming or website development.
