About this course

The Diploma of Information Technology qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to perform the roles of front end design and developer in small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) using a wide range of web focused, industry standard methodologies and work flows.
 

Persons working at this level are able to provide a wide range of higher level technical skills in ICT areas such as web design, focusing on UX and UI skills, and front end development for rapid, responsive, and dynamic web content.
 

This course is focused on students learning current industry practices in web design and web development. Students will undertake studies in user interface design based on user experience methodologies, wireframing and mock-ups using rapid prototyping tools. Students will also explore HTML5, CSS3, CSS frameworks, JavaScript, and JavaScript frameworks. There is emphasis on industry relevant project management methodologies and work in teams to manage and produce an industry based project for an external client, which will be responsive and dynamic website and have sound visual design and UX at its core.
 

Course structure

Students are required to complete 20 units, including 4 core units and 16 elective units.
