About this course

Learn how to promote events and manage artists so you can start your own business or gain work in the music industry with this qualification. Gain skills in how to combine music and business in running events, artist management, music distribution and music publishing. This hands on course culminates in opportunities for work placement where you can apply the music business skills you have developed.

During your studies you will learn how to develop current music industry practices, promote music events, manage artists, understand record label operations and publish music.

Entry requirements

  • An IELTS score (academic) of 6.0 with no band score less than 5.0 or equivalent.

  • Completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 10.

  • Students will be required to participate in an interview with the North Metropolitan TAFE Head of Program for Music to discuss their Resume which outlines musical skills and experience.

    To achieve this qualification, students must demonstrate competency in 16 units. These 16 are comprised of 4 core units and 12 elective units. Elective units listed below have been selected in consultation with industry.

    Students who enrol into this qualification will be eligible for credit transfer of the units that they have already achieved. Fees paid by international students are set on a commercial basis and are paid as a whole of course fee - no refund will apply to credit transfers.
