Advance your career as a Building Surveyor/certifier and develop an advanced understanding of compliance requirements and traditional, new and emerging construction methods and materials
This course is intended for people who wish to work at higher levels in the building surveying profession. The qualification is the minimum required for national appointment as a Building Surveyor (Limited, as defined by the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS)).
If you are looking to work at a higher level in building surveying, this course will give you the capability to apply your knowledge of compliance requirements and construction methods and materials to the implementation of statutory building surveying requirements and to the provision of advisory building surveying services.
Throughout this course, you'll develop the skills needed to apply legal and ethical requirements to building surveying functions and assess and advise on the compliance of design documentation for residential and commercial buildings up to three storeys. You will also learn to research and evaluate construction methods and materials and assess and advise on performance-based solutions.
Other areas of study for buildings not more than 2000m2 in area and up to three storeys will focus on planning and building applications, building surveying audits, and construction and final inspections. Successful completion of this course will equip you with the skills you need to become a Building Surveyor/certifier either in local government or private enterprise throughout Australia.

This course will require you to conduct inspections of buildings under various stages of construction. Your workplace or industry mentor will need to provide you with the ability to access building sites, meeting WHS requirements and relevant insurances.
