Gain practical experience and knowledge in the growing construction industry with this 11 week entry-level course with a focus on carpentry. Whether you are a school leaver or a mature-aged person looking for a career change, this course will help you develop an understanding of building skills and principles, as well as expose you to common scenarios you would face on a building site.

In this qualification, our experienced teachers will teach you how apply basic levelling procedures as well as how to use carpentry hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools and equipment. You'll learn how to plan, organise work and carry out a range of measurements and calculations, and read and interpret plans and specifications. In this course you will also and have the opportunity to undertake a basic construction project using basic tools, equipment and materials!

In the construction industry, safety is critical. This course will also provide you with the knowledge you need to work safely and sustainably in construction, as well as how to apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures. You will also learn how to work safely at heights, plus how to manually handle and store carpentry materials.
