About this course

Are you passionate about working with animals and their wellbeing? Already working or volunteering in the industry? With a suitable workplace, you can advance your skills whilst learning on the job with this course.

This course is suitable if you are currently working in a suitable Animal Care workplace at an assistant level with some industry experience and want to further your knowledge and gain or upgrade a qualification, or if you are already working in the industry and want to progress your career. This course is open to those with suitable paid or voluntary employment, including apprentices and trainees.

You will develop the skills and knowledge to understand animal behaviour and safe handling techniques, the health and care for a range of animals across a broad range of roles in animal care including boarding/day care, breeding shelters/holding centres, pet grooming/sitting and animal health work. Some students complete this qualification as a pathway onto further qualifications.

*Average of 24 hours per week with a suitably qualified supervisor.

This course is available as an Australian Apprenticeship and those working within the Animal Care industry.
