About this course

Are you a livewire seeking to progress your career in the Electrotechnology industry? Look no further... this course may be just the one you've been looking for!

With excellent employment prospects here in Tasmania for Electrotechnology graduates, this nationally recognised qualification will equip you to find work in a business at trade level, or you may choose to progress to more specialised areas in Instrumentation, Refrigeration or Communications.

This course is only available as an Australian Apprenticeship. You must have employment as an apprentice to enrol in this qualification.

In this course, you will learn how to select, install and test electrical systems and equipment while applying Work Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace.

You'll gain plenty of hands-on experience in fabricating, assembling and dismantling utilities industry components, and how to arrange circuits, control and protection for general electrical installations. You'll also learn how to install low voltage wiring and accessories, appliances, switchgear and associated accessories for low voltage electrical installations, as well as solve problems in single and three phase low voltage machines, electrical apparatus and circuits, electromagnetic devices and related circuits, and low voltage A.C. circuits.

Throughout the course, you will also gain the skills and knowledge you need to solve problems in electrical devices and related circuits, trouble-shoot and repair faults in low voltage electrical apparatus and circuits, and participate in competency development activities. The delivery of this training allows you to complete this course through a combination of online learning, classroom-based attendance and on-the-job with your employer.

On successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to apply for an Electrical Practitioner Licence from the Occupational Licensing Unit of the Tasmanian Department of Justice. You may also like to consider undertaking further study at TasTAFE and go on to study UEE31211 - Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control, or UEE32211 - Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration.
