This qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge you need to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain instrumentation used in measurement and control systems.
In this course you will learn how to install, modify, maintain and repair instrumentation used in measurement and control systems. You'll learn how to apply your skills and knowledge to measure and control temperature, pressure and flow, and gain skills in instrumentation and programmable logic control (PLC). Our highly-experienced teachers and industry-current equipment will ensure your skills are of the highest standard required to be successful in your industry.
In this course, you will participate in instrumentation and control work, competency development activities and how to install instrumentation and control cabling and tubing, control apparatus and associated equipment.
You'll also learn how to apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace, and solve problems in temperature, density/level, pressure and flow measurement components and systems, as well as develop your skills in setting up and adjusting advanced PID process control loops. Throughout the course, you will also learn how to find and rectify faults in process final control elements, verify compliance and functionality of instrumentation and control installations, and develop, enter and verify discrete control programs for programmable controllers. You will also get the opportunity to setup and configure Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and industrial networks, and disconnect-reconnect control devices connected to low voltage installation wiring.
On successful completion of this course, you will have developed the instrumentation and control skills you need to become a trade-qualified Electrical Instrumentation Technician and progress your career to the next level across a range of sectors including the Petrochemical, Mining, Food and Manufacturing industries. You will also receive a Statement of Attainment for the qualification.
This course is only available as an Australian Apprenticeship. You must have employment as an apprentice to enrol in this qualification.
Note- to undertake this course, you must be supervised at your workplace by appropriately trained and qualified Instrument Technicians and undertake a range of work such as the tasks described above.
There are no essential entry requirements for this course.
