This nationally recognised qualification will provide you with the skills you need to work as an Assistant Designer, Patternmaker or Sewing Machinist, or provide support to fashion industry personnel in a variety of other roles.
In this course, you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills in design studio processes, and learn how to communicate design concepts, create patterns to meet specifications and produce quality fashion products.

You'll focus on extending your core skills in design, pattern making, sewing and technology while also learning how to calculate cost estimates for fashion products. You'll also learn how to identify the design process for fashion designs, draw a trade drawing and develop patterns from a block using basic patternmaking principles, as well as how to prepare and produce a complex whole garment from specifications and drape fabrics to make patterns.
In this course, you will also have the opportunity to further your skills in identifying fibres, fabrics and textiles and applying quality standards, as well as learn how to work safely in the Fashion industry context.
For this course, you will need to be able to attend campus two days per week, and participate in online activity one day per week, as well as work independently in your own time for the equivalent of one day per week.
