Advance your bookkeeping career by developing your knowledge and skills in taxation, legal and economic principles for the Financial Services industry.

This qualification is ideal if you are currently employed in the Financial Services industry, or if you have strong analytical abilities and attention to detail and have access to a workplace in which you can practice you skills and apply your knowledge.

In this course, you will focus on gaining the skills and knowledge you need to undertake professional accounting job roles in the Financial Services sector, including Tax Agent, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Officer, Payroll Service provider and roles that provide range of other accounting tasks for organisations in a range of industries.

You'll learn how to apply solutions to a range of often complex problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. You'll gain extensive experience in providing financial and business performance information, and preparing legally compliant income tax returns for individuals, as well as managing budgets and forecasts and preparing financial reports for corporate entities. You'll also have the opportunity to learn how to implement and maintain internal control procedures and provide management accounting information.

Successful completion of this course will prepare you for employment in the Financial Services industry, and could also set you up for further study at university.

Entry requirements

Completion of the FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set;

OR

Completion of FNS40217 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent; or its superseded versions (FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting) or their equivalent.

To meet academic requirements for Diploma or Advanced Diploma courses, you need to successfully complete any TasTAFE course entry procedures and you also need to:

  • Have completed year 12 and provide TasTAFE with a copy of your Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education awarded to you by an agency or authority of a State or Territory; OR,

  • Provide TasTAFE with a copy of a qualification at Level 4 or above in the Australian Qualifications Framework that was awarded to you. This qualification must have been delivered in English; OR,

  • Complete an approved language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment and display competence at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both literacy and numeracy.
