This qualification has been designed to give you the advance technical skills you will need to seek employment as an Engineering Draftsperson or Technician in the fields of civil, structural or local government engineering, or to work alongside other allied professions such as architects, town planners and builders.
This course focuses on the skills and knowledge required for a Draftsperson/Technician producing specialist engineering drawings within an engineering design environment. Throughout this course, you will gain a deep understanding of the integration of technical and design systems as they relate to engineering, as well as the administrative processes you'll need to achieve successful outcomes for engineering projects.
You'll learn how to organise and communicate information, master a range of computer applications and technology and apply mathematical techniques in a manufacturing engineering or related environment.
Areas of study include technical, civil and structural engineering drafting, computer-aided design (CAD 2D and 3D), 3D surface modelling, engineering design, structural detailing, engineering materials, environmentally sustainable practices and Building Information Management (BIM).
The units in this course have been selected in consultation with industry to reflect their needs and to ensure that you will be prepared with the specific skills that employers are looking for. The skills-base you will develop in this course has been designed to be diverse enough for you to adapt to varying engineering and associated professional environments and to give you the best possible employability outcomes.
