If you are a people person who loves Tasmania, this course could be just the ticket to becoming a professional tour guide! Tasmania has a unique natural and cultural history. Many visitors to the island experience and appreciate Tasmania's stories through tours at local attractions, or guided journeys in vehicles led by professional and knowledgeable tour guides.
This course focuses on giving you the skills required to work as a professional tour guide at Tasmanian sites and attractions such as cultural and heritage sites, tourist precincts, marine and national parks, wineries, or on-board cruise vessels. You will learn about tour guiding skills and qualities, leading and managing groups and how to connect clients to Tasmania's natural and cultural history and places, by sharing interesting facts and stories.
With this accredited course, you will also gain valuable, transferable skills in research, group communication and presentation techniques. You will also learn about the importance of being socially aware and gain skills to communicate with people from a range of social and cultural groups with respect and sensitivity.
This 8-week course provides a pathway to work as a tour guide in the travel and tourism industry for a diverse range of employers including tour operators, tourist attractions and other tourism businesses.
Upon completion of this course you will receive a Statement of Attainment for successfully completed units.
