About this course

Gain an overview of your legal responsibility, liability and duty of care to patrons by learning how to provide responsible service of alcohol (RSA).

Delivered at our specialist hospitality and tourism facility, Drysdale, this one-day short course is a legal requirement for anyone working with alcohol products in the Hospitality industry.

In this course, you will learn about the service of alcohol and the law, as well as your legal responsibilities in providing service of alcohol to customers (RSA). You'll also learn how to sell and serve alcohol, and provide accurate information according to organisation or house policy and government legislation.

Throughout the course, you'll learn how to serve alcohol responsibly and how to assist a patron to drink within appropriate limits, as well as identify alcohol-affected customers and ways to refuse to provide alcohol to those customers who are intoxicated.

You'll also learn how to use appropriate communication and conflict resolution skills to handle difficult situations, and how to refer difficult situations beyond the scope of your own responsibility to the appropriate person.

On successful completion of this short course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units successfully completed, and have the skills you need to provide responsible service of alcohol in a wide range of contexts.
