About this course

Are you about to start your TasTAFE course but feeling a little nervous? This short course will teach you the study skills you need to start your new course with confidence.

This course will next run immediately before TasTAFE's second intake period in July 2023.

The Study Start course is for students who are enrolled at TasTAFE in a course that is about to start, and it's free. It is designed to support people who may have been out of study for some time or are nervous about starting at TasTAFE.

The course replicates the experience of many TasTAFE courses, with a mixture of on-campus classes, virtual classes, and online independent study.

The skills and knowledge all relate to being well prepared for studying at TasTAFE. You will learn how to use your Office 365 account, be introduced to the Canvas platform, learn video conferencing basics for both Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and will be shown how to make the most of your bksb account.

You will also learn about general study skills, such as time management, how to understand and prepare for assessments, basic reading and writing strategies for study and how to maintain a positive growth mindset.

This short course is delivered over 20 hours, with 16 hours supervised learning and 4 hours of independent online study.
