About this course

Are you creative and enjoy creating beautiful spaces? If you want to style your own home, or explore a career in styling interiors, this short course will introduce you to this exciting industry!

Styling is a fast-growing employment area which is both creative and dynamic! This 8-week taster course will help you develop skills that transfer across the many styling specialisations within the design industry such as set styling, photographic styling and interior styling.

Delve into the life of a stylist! You'll learn about the role and services offered, including how to determine a client's requirements, prepare a concept board and communicate a concept from a brief though to presentation to a client.

In this course you'll investigate the latest in design trends and develop an understanding of the foundation elements and principles of design, as well as the wide range of interior styles. You'll gain an understanding of the design process and cover the elements of design: colour, pattern, form and texture.

This course will provide the foundation knowledge and skills needed to begin your journey to a range of exciting career opportunities available in this industry. Further study can be undertaken to gain a qualification in Interior Decoration.

The 8-week course includes 6 weeks of online study, comprising around 2 hours of online seminars and 2-3 hours of self-directed learning each week. For the final 2 weeks, you'll work on your own project, which will form the basis for your assessment.

Upon successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit completed.
