The Gordon Celebrancy program is recognised by industry to be a highly successful delivery model. It provides our graduates with the confidence, knowledge and skills to enable their successful application to become Commonwealth-Registered Marriage Celebrant.
Our workshops offer students opportunities to practice and refine their skills in performing, delivery and writing of ceremonies.
Blended delivery is a combination of workbooks and/or online and face to face and is self-paced learning. This unique delivery design over 6 month encouraging reflection of learning and embedding of learning practices over the duration of the course. Participants are required to undertake a minimum of 10 -15 hours of study per week, for the duration of the course. This includes reading, research and completion of activities in preparation of the weekend workshops. Students produce a series of assessment portfolio's including, practical performance of ceremonies.
This course covers administrative requirements, legal responsibility and how to set up your business communication plan. It includes ceremonies of life, love and loss. You will learn the practicalities involved in the role, how to prepare and deliver ceremonies, and how to make the difference between a good celebrant and a great one. The course addresses specific legislative responsibilities of marriage celebrants and provides a range of electives representing different aspects of celebrancy work. You will gain the skills and knowledge required for a range of celebrancy roles within the community.
To become a Commonwealth-Registered Marriage Celebrant, it is a requirement to complete a full CHC41015 Certificate IV in Celebrancy. Applicants seeking to be registered as a marriage celebrant must meet the Attorney General's criteria for a 'Fit and Proper Person'. You will need a current Police check and to be of good standing in the community. Any conflict of interest may preclude you. Visit ag.gov.au for specific information.
