Part two: Zoom virtual classroom (2 hours)
The legal landscape of celebrancy has changed over the last few years. This 4-hour course takes you on a journey through the essential legal obligations for Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrants. Learn about the '4Cs' consequences for the couple, celebrant & community of your legal obligations, explore the difference between 'consent' and 'real consent', take a trip through the new marriage forms, and discover the essential resources every marriage celebrant needs. The course not only covers 'what' you need to do, but 'why' we do it, for a richer learning experience.
This course is suitable for all Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrants, experienced or newly registered. It covers:
Legal obligations before, during, and after the marriage ceremony
Marriage forms and certificates and how to complete them
Fundamental resources for Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrants
Validity of marriage
Real consent - what it is and how to fulfil obligations.
Equipment/IT requirements
Computer/laptop with microphone (such as the built in microphone, a USB microphone or an online microphone), speaker, headphones and internet connection.
You do not have to have a zoom account to attend a zoom meeting. A zoom meeting link is located in GordonOnline. When you click on the link, it will prompt you to create an account. You may wish to create an account, but it is not required to participate in the meeting.
