New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson)

Working as a real estate agent is high-energy and fast-paced. You'll need operational and technical knowledge of the real estate industry. But, more importantly, you must be a people person. That's because buying and selling a house can be stressful, so it's your job to guide people through it. Do that well, and your success in this commission-based industry will directly reflect your dedication and hard work.

This is the qualification you need to apply for a salesperson's license via the Real Estate Authority (REA), to facilitate the sale and purchase of property in New Zealand.

The programme covers topics like:

• Fundamentals of real estate. Develop the legislative knowledge, professional skills and attributes you need to be a successful real estate agent.
• Law for real estate licensees. Study the laws relevant to land ownership, building structures and council compliance.
• Real estate sales and marketing. Learn how to apply your knowledge and skills to establish your personal brand as an agent and complete the real estate transaction process through to post-settlement responsibilities.

The New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson) (Level 4) is now available to study either mostly online or more face-to-face. Please see the intake class times and choose an intake which will work best for you.

We'll help you choose the best option for your study success based on your application.

Over the 14 weeks, you'll be required on campus some Fridays. Every Wednesday, you'll join your lecturer and classmates on Zoom from 5 to 7 pm, while you make your way through self-directed online learning. In the last week, we'll help you prep for your oral exam in class.

• Course 1: four weeks (one Friday on campus)
• Course 2: four weeks (one Friday on campus)
• Break: one week
• Course 4: five weeks (last week, four days on-campus)

• Small classes with lots of support. Our class sizes range from 15 to 40 students.
• Listen to guest speakers. These are professionals from various areas (advertising, marketing, auction, sales) who currently work in the industry.
• Choose how you study. You can complete this programme either mostly online or more face-to-face, whichever suits your learning and lifestyle.
• Hands-on industry exposure. You'll meet with a branch manager in a real estate office for a practical assessment.
• Attend our branch manager event. This is your chance to meet local branch managers and network with people who are actively recruiting real estate salespeople.

• You can attend all online and face-to-face classes. Some assessments happen on campus, and you'll be required to attend every scheduled class once you enrol.

• You have everything you need to complete this programme successfully. This includes a laptop or desktop computer (for your Zoom sessions) and a good internet connection.

• You can complete the work experience. You'll be required to complete approximately six hours with a branch manager outside of class time. Some of your assessments will be done by an authorised branch manager.
