What you will learn

As a member of a small but distinctive community within the wider University, you'll work to take your knowledge and skills to a higher level. You will:

  • enrol in Level 2 courses from first-year
  • partner with an academic mentor who will support and encourage your intellectual development
  • take a set of courses specifically designed for high-achieving students
  • research and write a major independent research project on a topic of your choice
  • attend exclusive events such as guest presentations, workshops, seminars, industry talks and social gatherings
  • have significant input into the design and running of the Arts' advanced program.

You'll also have the flexibility to tailor your degree to suit your career goals. You can choose to extend your abilities in two majors. Or, take just one and complement it with a set of elective courses focused on developing your leadership and citizenship.

Course structure

BA (Advanced) students are appointed an academic mentor for the duration of their degree and are able to focus on advanced level study from the first year of study. Students will study two majors, undertake a 3-unit course in advanced humanities theory and method, and complete a 6-unit research project in their final year under the supervision of their academic mentor.

The remainder of the degree is made up of free choice electives from disciplines within the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics. Students studying this program will attend various discipline research seminars, career and industry talks.
