What you will learn

The degree gives you the knowledge, tools and insight to immediately contribute to successful organisations today-and confidently lead the sustainable enterprises of tomorrow.

You will build foundational knowledge in accounting, finance, economics and commercial law; explore business lifecycles, data analysis, cultural diversity and the entrepreneurial mindset; then focus your career direction through a major or double major. Options include:

  • Accounting
  • Corporate Finance
  • Marketing
  • or any two of these.

You'll also have the opportunity to hone your abilities through a real-world capstone experience. This could be an internship; industry project; participation in the Australian eChallenge or Tech eChallenge; or approved Business School study tour*.

You will graduate able to research and analyse diverse business problems, develop powerful, evidence-based solutions, and promote ethical, sustainable business through innovation and clearly articulated strategic thinking.

Career pathways

Everywhere. Complete an accounting major and you'll be entitled to join CPA (Certified Practising Accountants) Australia and CA ANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand). The Corporate Finance major meets CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute entry requirements. And the marketing major's accredited with the AMI (Australian Marketing Institute).^

*Students undertaking a double major in Corporate Finance and Marketing must complete the course Marketing Planning Project for their capstone experience.

Course structure

The Bachelor of Commerce is designed to prepare students for professional accreditation in accounting, finance or marketing. Students completing an accounting major will be entitled to join the CPA Australia (Certified Practising Accountants) and CA ANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand); the finance major meets the entrance requirements of the CFA Institute (Chartered Financial Analyst); and the marketing major is accredited with the AMI (Australian Marketing Institute).

The Bachelor of Commerce is an AQF level 7 program with a standard full-time duration of 3 years.
