Course structure

Our four year double degrees allow you to specialise in two subject areas taught in the secondary years of high school. Your first three years of study are focused on building your expertise in these two teaching areas.

Throughout the degree you will also undertake education courses and professional experience placements. The final year of study prepares you to be a teaching professional with the focus on curriculum, methodology, pedagogy and professional experience placements in schools.

The Bachelor of Teaching is for students who have not already commenced university study. If you have already commenced a degree, you should consider completing that degree and then apply for the Master of Teaching (Middle and Secondary). Students completing the requirements of the Bachelor of Teaching are eligible to gain credit towards the Master of Teaching (Middle and Secondary).

Please note:

Mid-year entry will only be available to domestic students. Due to the program structure and professional experience placements, students commencing mid-year study will complete their program in 4.5 years instead of 4 years. An accelerated 3.5 year option is also available.
Business, Languages, Maths, and Psychology Teaching Areas may not be available for mid-year entry.
International students who are currently studying at the University of Adelaide may apply to this program mid-year via internal transfer. Approval is based on your past and current enrolments, and is assessed by the Faculty of Arts on a case-by-case basis.
