About this course

Examine the world in its global context

The Bachelor of Arts (Global Studies) will prepare you to become an active global citizen; the type of person who can find creative ways to address the challenges faced by the international community, both now and in the future. You'll explore the complex, interconnected and culturally diverse nature of the contemporary world, and think critically about issues within their global context.

Over the course of your study, you'll develop the flexibility, analytical skills and global mindset to adapt effectively in rapidly changing work environments. You'll graduate possessing the intercultural skills and global interdisciplinary understanding necessary for a career across government, business or the non-government organisation sector globally.

Study a Bachelor of Arts (Global Studies) at UC and you will:
  • explore and communicate the nature and importance of global cultural diversity
  • critically analyse and communicate effectively about global issues from an interdisciplinary perspective
  • evaluate the impact of the global context on local cultures, communities and issues
  • propose and justify solutions to real-world problems using a critical understanding of the global context
  • articulate a reflective and informed understanding of global ethical and social justice concerns.
Work Integrated Learning

Work Integrated Learning is at the very centre of the Bachelor of Arts (Global Studies). You'll learn from industry-active professionals and world-class scholars and will work and study in real-world situations through project work, internships, professional experience and mentorships.

You'll complete units designed to help you develop the professional skills essential for employment in the cultural and creative industries, and will have the opportunity to participate in international work and study experiences as part of your degree. Global Studies students have undertaken internships with a range of different local, national and international organisations, including the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Jakarta, Strategic Development Associates, 50/50 by 2030 and the national embassies of Indonesia, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, among many others.
