About this course

This is a degree with flexibility which offers currently accredited in-service teachers the option of up-skilling to a new sector of teaching, for example, secondary to primary, or primary to secondary. It also allows currently accredited secondary teachers to up-skill to another teaching subject. Finally, it also allows conditionally accredited "three-year-trained" teachers to upgrade to four-year trained.

For students wishing to study Music (Schedule C): Applications for 2020 will close at midday for the following Trimesters:

Trimester 1: Thursday 13 February

Trimester 2: Thursday 11 June

Entry requirements

A candidate shall:

(
a) hold an AQF Level 7 four year pre-service teaching qualification of a recognised University or tertiary institution;
or

(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree and an AQF Level 7 or Level 8 or Level 9 one or two year pre-service teaching qualification of a recognised University;
or

(c) for the Music Specialisation/Major only, in addition to satisfying rule (a) or (b) above, candidates must have: (i) a performing standard equivalent to Grade 6 of the Australian Music Examinations Board demonstrated via audition or music performance qualifications
,
and (ii) a music theory standard equivalent to Grade 4 of the Australian Music Examinations Board demonstrated via music performance qualifications or the successful completion of a music theory test set by the Music Discipline Convenor;
or

(d) for the Fourth Year Upgrade Program only, hold a three-year pre-service teaching qualification of a recognised University or tertiary institution, and be conditionally accredited to teach by the NSW Education Standards Authority, or interstate equivalent.

All candidates must
comply with the
University's English Language Requirements for Courses in Education Accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).

Assumed knowledge for students attempting the Schedule B Physics major is two units of Calculus.
