About this course

This course is designed for professionals to study in depth a range of areas related to education. Participants may choose from a range of units from different areas or specialise in the area of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) (also known as Teaching English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D))
.
Some units are related to the school curriculum. However, these units are not intended for the purposes of teacher preparation in any particular method. The course articulates with the Master of Education and so provides a pathway for candidates wishing to pursue further study.

Note: The TESOL specialisation is only available to candidates commencing in Trimester 1.

Entry requirements

A candidate shall:

(a) hold a three-year or four year pre-service teaching qualification of a recognised University or tertiary institution (AQF Level 7);
or

(b) hold a bachelor degree and a one or two year pre-service teaching qualification of a recognised University (AQF Level 7);
or

(c) hold a bachelor degree (AQF Level 7) in Linguistics and a minimum Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TESOL specialisation only);
and

(d) comply with the

English Language Requirements for Admission Rule
